PAKISTAN PUNJAB DISTRICT LAHORE TENDER NOTICE 2022
The Lahore high court has given the green signal to award tenders for 5,000 acres of land in Faisalabad and Gilgit-Baltistan region for setting up a separate district in Pakistan Punjab province to boost economic activity in the area.
It is learnt that government authorities had approached the High Court on September 30 seeking approval under Article 295 regarding creation of a district in KP to improve living conditions in the area which is already under heavy burden of development projects. It had sought an order that will allow the formation of two districts namely Bahawalpur-Chakwal and Jalandhar-Lahore with administrative and judicial wings.
Pakistan has been trying to create another sub-province in KP from Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure that the entire country is benefited from this move. A special meeting has been held in Islamabad to review the matter and to come out with a decision. On October 29 last year, Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz said that he had been told by the Governor general about the proposal, adding that it was discussed during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan as also between President Dr Arif Ali Khan and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
A decision regarding the appointment of officials, teachers as well as other education staff is yet to be taken by the federal cabinet. The federal cabinet members have not approved the appointment of special assistant professor (Pakistan) for Arts & Humanities and Culture Education, Federal University, Gilgit, Chaudhry Mohammad Sheikh-ul-Hassan Akhtar, Director Arts of Pakistan, Gilgit, Chaudhry Amir Khalilullah Alizayee, Assistant Professor Department of Educational Studies and Research, University of Engineering Punjab-Pakistan, Bilal Ahmad Shah, Additional Director Higher Education and Administration, Karachi University, Faheem Abdul Latif Alizayee, Chief Executive Officer College of Architecture and Design Management, Punjab Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Haseeb Ahmed Mirza and others. The federal cabinet has constituted the Special Committee headed by Secretary Commerce & Industry to examine the overall progress in development activities across the country. In this regard, provincial governments of Sindh, Northern Areas, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are actively working towards completing more than 50 mega project schemes.
The Punjab House of Representatives Chairman Bajwa Abid Malik had recently presented to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Climate Change Solutions a report titled ‘Climate Action Plan for Punjab and adjoining areas’. According to him, climate change has become the major concern of our time and needs urgent attention. He added that one million people in Punjab were affected directly or indirectly due to air pollution by dust particles emitted during dust storms and construction works; one million farmers were unable to earn their livelihoods amid the ravages of natural calamity such as floods, earthquakes, monsoon and cold and cough diseases, while hundreds of thousands of livestock died due to disease outbreaks due to malnutrition caused by excessive use of antibiotics.
He also added that there were increasing cases of skin cancer, premature mortality, mental health problems, diabetes, respiratory ailments among children in Pakistan due to environmental pollution.
He urged all stakeholders to work together to address these issues through active participation of various groups of society including women, youth, children, elders, civil society organizations, etc. He regretted that no serious effort was made in keeping abreast of the global developments in environment protection.
Minister for Labour, Food & Railways Syed Ali Haider Zaid and Advisor Suhail Haider Khan met here recently where discussions were held on matters relating to implementation of international conventions on food safety and standards, rules and regulations pertaining to food supply in Punjab where agriculture is involved. They reviewed the existing strategies for enhancing agricultural production through better practices that would yield maximum benefits to both farmers and consumers. It was decided at the meeting that we may be able to get international agreements on improvement of current technologies, infrastructure and research methods. Both sides were informed to provide input regarding strengthening of public sector institutions to achieve higher levels of productivity in rural areas.
